The Immune Oncology Research Institute organized a workshop focused on protocol writing. The workshop consisted of two meetings held on July 3rd and July 10th. It was presented by Susan Jeiran, MD, the Founder and President of ONCORD, Inc., consulting firm specializing in the development of new therapies for cancer and immunologic diseases, and David Essayan, MD, FACP, Executive Vice President for ONCORD. On the first day, they introduced the topics and facilitated discussions about protocol writing and formulating research questions, after which attendees were tasked with writing synopses of their protocols in teams during the week. During the second meeting, one representative from each team presented their synopsis, which had been shared with the guest lecturers in advance. David Essayan and Susan Jeiran provided comments and suggestions.
Susan Jerian has over 20 years of experience in clinical development and regulatory affairs in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and specializes in hematology and oncology product development. Previously, she served as a Supervisory Medical Officer at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research and Global Medical Director at Amgen Inc.
Prior to joining ONCORD, David M. Essayan was Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs at Amgen, Inc. Prior to Amgen, David was a Supervisory Medical Officer at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Rockville, Maryland and a Principle Investigator in the Laboratory of Tumor Molecular Biology, also at FDA.
